When it comes to the Hyundai lineup, the Tucson has certainly established itself as one of the biggest icons in production. It was first introduced for the 2005 model year, and it entered its fourth generation for 2022. Now just a few years later, Hyundai has significantly refreshed its iconic compact crossover for the upcoming 2025 model year. While the whole lineup has been touched up, today we’re going to focus on the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, as it has possibly become even more popular than the traditional gas versions. We’re going to dive into some of the highlights the vehicle has to offer, including a look at what’s new after the refresh, so keep reading to learn more about this incredible hybrid crossover.
“The refreshed 2025 Tucson SUV expands the appeal of our full-spectrum eco-powertrain approach, offering internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in a popular compact SUV design. With all-wheel drive offered on gas and hybrid models, customers can enjoy all-road, all-weather capability coupled with outstanding efficiency and an attractive variety of trims, including outdoor-focused XRT and sporty N Line models.”

While the traditional powertrain Tucson has already become available across the country, both the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid have release dates of late summer. So, while we don’t have any exact dates or anything specific, we imagine the Hybrid models will arrive sometime in late August or into September.
While many automakers out there focus solely on efficiency when building their hybrid vehicles, Hyundai took a slightly different approach when designing the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid powertrain. They wanted to not only deliver excellent fuel economy, but maintain the reputation of “fun-to-drive performance” the nameplate has built up throughout the years.
So, beneath the hood of the all-new Tucson Hybrid is a 1.6L turbocharged engine tethered to a 47.7-kW electric motor and a 1.49-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Altogether, the hybrid system is capable of generating a total of 231 horsepower alongside 258 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain also includes a uniquely tuned six-speed automatic transmission, driver-adjustable regenerative braking levels and an HTRAC all-wheel drive system.
In addition to the technologies already mentioned as part of the powertrain, there are plenty of other great features and technologies found within the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid sure to catch your attention. For example, that HTRAC AWD system we mentioned comes with several driver-selectable modes from which to choose. While it has your typical Normal, Sport and Snow modes, it also features a few new modes about which we’re quite excited.
The first is My Drive, which was designed to give drivers much more control over the vehicle in many different conditions. Within My Drive mode, the new Baby Mode is also available, which was designed with young passengers and pets in mind. It reduces how sharp acceleration can feel and smooths other driver inputs for an altogether gentler driving experience.
Another highlight is the brand’s e-Motion technology, which helps deliver that “fun-to-drive performance” we mentioned earlier. It optimizes electric motor torque control to improve many aspects of performance, including cornering. Some other highlighted features can be found in the following list:
We’ve only scratched the surface here of everything that the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid will have to offer when it arrives here in Olympia, Washington. If you have any questions about the all-new hybrid crossover, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
