Chevrolet Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck

Published on Apr 30, 2025 by Titus-Wil Cars

Pickup trucks are hardworking vehicles that can perform many tasks, from transporting heavy loads to everyday driving, but they're also the biggest gas guzzlers. With the advent of pure-electric trucks, you can make a statement on the road and get the job done without worrying about your carbon footprint. In the battle for supremacy in the electric truck segment, the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV and the Tesla Cybertruck stand out with their capabilities and state-of-the-art technologies. Check out this in-depth comparison of the two titans, compiled by us at the Titus-Will Automotive Group in Washington.

Design and Exterior Features

The Chevrolet Silverado EV and the Tesla Cybertruck feature strikingly different designs. The Chevy truck has a rugged and aggressive imposing stance, muscular lines, and chunky fender flares. One of its distinctive exterior features is an LED accent light spanning across its nose that adds a futuristic and sophisticated touch.

The Tesla Cybertruck boasts radical, sci-fi-inspired styling unlike anything else you'll see on the road. The truck has a stainless steel body comprising a series of sharp edges and hard angles, as well as bulletproof doors and armored glass. The downside of the Cybertruck's exterior is that it can easily collect smudges and fingerprints.

Performance and Powertrain

Comparing the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV vs. Tesla Cybertruck specs, the Tesla comes out on top. The all-wheel-drive Cybertruck offers two powertrain options: a dual-motor system generating 600 horsepower and a tri-motor setup generating 845 horsepower. The Silverado EV is equipped with a four-wheel-drive, dual-motor powertrain that produces 510 horsepower in the base WT trim. You'll get 645 horsepower in the LT trim and 760 horsepower in the top RST trim.

Both the Silverado EV and the Cybertruck deliver acceleration that few other pickups can match. Equipped with the tri-motor powertrain, the Tesla can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 2.6 seconds. Slower off the line, the Silverado EV  can still satisfy most thrill-seekers with its 0-to-60 mph sprint time of 4.5 seconds.

Despite being a large vehicle, the Chevrolet Silverado EV is easy to maneuver in confined situations, thanks to its light steering. It provides a smooth ride over bumps and road imperfections, showing minimal body roll around bends. The Tesla Cybertruck navigates tight areas and soaks up uneven surfaces with ease; however, it still drives like a big truck. There seems to be a lack of response in its steering and suspension that makes you feel less confident around sharp corners.

Range and Energy Efficiency

In terms of driving range, the Chevrolet is the clear winner in the Tesla Cybertruck vs. Chevrolet Silverado EV contest. The Silverado EV's maximum range of 492 miles is the longest in the electric truck segment, and it returns an EPA-estimated 77 MPGe in the city and 63 MPGe on the highway. In contrast, the Tesla truck has a range of 325 miles on a full charge, but unfortunately, there are no official EPA-estimated Cybertruck MPGe figures yet.

Towing and Payload Capacities

The Chevrolet has an advantage in the Cybertruck vs. Silverado EV towing matchup. The Chevy can pull up to 12,500 pounds, whereas the Tesla manages 11,000 pounds. The maximum Silverado towing capacity allows you to lug anything from a livestock trailer to a large boat. The Cybertruck may be a better option if you frequently use your truck for hauling cargo, as it has an impressive payload rating of 2,500 pounds. That's 700 pounds more than its Chevy rival.

Technology and Innovation

An 11.3-inch touch screen, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a six-speaker sound system, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Google Assistant, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation are all standard on the Silverado EV. A 17.7-inch touch screen without smartphone connectivity, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, a wireless device charger, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system are available.

The Tesla has an 18.5-inch touch-screen display and a 15-speaker audio system, but it doesn't offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. There's a 9.4-inch touch screen for rear passengers, four USB ports, a wireless device charger, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation.

Both the Silverado EV and the Cybertruck are equipped with driver-assistance technologies that help you stay safe behind the wheel. Standard active safety features in the two pickups include forward collision alert, automated emergency braking, automated high beams, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, pedestrian monitoring, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and a 360-degree camera system. The Chevy has additional standard driver aids, such as traffic sign recognition and rear-seat alert, that are unavailable on the Tesla.

Interior Comfort and Space

The interiors of both trucks are solidly constructed with quality materials. They feature well-padded, supportive seats that make long trips a breeze and generous front and rear legroom, sufficient to comfortably accommodate tall adults.

In terms of interior design, the Chevrolet's modern and practical cabin may appeal more than the Tesla's minimalist style, which you may find a little drab.
