This year the Ford Explorer, the automaker’s iconic crossover that’s been around for more than three decades now, has been completely refreshed with a redesigned interior and new features, including an updated Ford Digital Experience and available BlueCruise Hands-Free Highway Driving. We thought we’d dive into what’s been updated in the midsize crossover to give you an idea of what’s in store when it arrives later this year – and not that much later, either, because it’s release date is fast approaching.
“The new Explorer starts with a great foundation. Customers told us they love the way it drives and the choice of rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. So, we focused on improving other areas including redesigning the interior with new materials, textures and colors to make sitting inside Explorer as enjoyable as driving one."
– Kelley Clark, Explorer Chief Engineer, Ford Motor Company
While an exact release date hasn’t yet been announced, Ford has stated that the all-new 2025 Explorer is expected to ship out to dealerships across the country sometime in the second quarter of 2024. Since we just entered the second quarter, they could be available anytime from today through the end of June as long as things are staying on track. If you want to stay updated, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with all the information we know about when it will be released.
While the main focus was redesigning the interior of the 2025 Ford Explorer, the exterior got a little bit of love as well. The front fascia was updated with a larger grille, a sleeker set of LED headlights, a front skid plate and air curtains that are both lower and wider than previous iterations. All of this mixes together to create a bold new aesthetic and muscular stance, which is only accented by the available black-painted roof option that has been introduced to the Platinum, ST and ST-Line trim levels. Finally, the rear fascia was updated a bit as well, with its own new LED lamps and a horizontal nameplate applique that fills the gap between the two taillights.
On the inside, new materials and textures were used throughout to bring a whole new experience to drivers and passengers alike. Wrap-and-stitch soft-touch surfaces were used throughout the cabin, including on the center console, the panels of the doors and the completely redesigned dashboard. ActiveX synthetic seating materials has been added as an available option, bringing an even more premium feel to the interior, which is furthered by silver mesh accents throughout as well.
The dashboard has been repositioned so that front passengers have more space to get comfortable, while a tray below the touchscreen has been integrated to provide a space for the available wireless charging feature as well as several USB connections, which are also found in all three rows to provide plenty of charging. Finally, a host of new interior color schemes have been introduced, both standard and available in different trim levels. While there are too many to list here, you can feel free to give us a call to learn more.
Now, let’s get to the real meat and potatoes of the mid-generation refresh, which are these two new features introduced for the 2025 Ford Explorer. The new Ford Digital Experience is finally being released to the world, as the Explorer will be its first production run. This new infotainment system provides greater access and customization than its predecessor, including selectable profiles, tons of new content and apps and, of course, a 13.2” touchscreen display – which is complemented by a 12.3” digital cluster. You’ll be able to take advantage of Google Assistant, as using voice was a priority for the engineering team to keep your hands and eyes free to focus on driving. Plenty of other technologies are integrated into this new system, so don’t be afraid to call for more info.
But speaking of hands free, the other big new technology is BlueCruise Hands-Free Highway Driving. Certain trim levels will offer this new hardware, which enables true hands-free driving on applicable highway driving. It includes several driver-assistive safety technologies and more that will all assist in taking control of the vehicle on long road trims or heavy traffic to make your time in the vehicle both easier and more enjoyable. If you activate a Connected Services plan at the time of purchase, you’ll receive a 90-day free trial of BlueCruise if the vehicle is equipped with it.
Once again, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us right here at Titus-Will. We can’t wait for the 2025 Ford Explorer to arrive here in Tacoma, Washington!
